Wanda M. Perkins, 75, Oblong, passed away Saturday, December 8, 2007, she was cremated and her cremains held for interment.
Born in San Francisco, California on January 3, 1932, she was the daughter of Perry Miller and Mae Wuertzberger. She was the co-owner and operator of Paul’s Cue Club and Lunch Room in Oblong for 25 years. Her restaurant was an expression of her love of people and her love of family. She often fed customers who had no way to pay for the food. Even when her elderly customers could not make it to the restaurant she would call them and have her family deliver the food to their homes.
Paul Eugene Perkins, 83, Oblong, passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at his residence. Born in Oblong, Illinois on September 11, 1927, he was the son of Millard Perkins and Rachel (Weck) Perkins. He served with the U. S. Navy during W. W. II. He was employed with the Case / Briggs Manufacture in Robinson, IL for 47 years and also co-owned and operated Paul’s Cue Club and Lunch Room, Oblong, IL for 25 years. His hobbies included woodworking and playing pool.
On September 27, 1947, Paul and Wanda were married. They are survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Mike & Jeanne Perkins; two daughters and sons-in-law, Teena & David DeVries and Penny & Ed Craig; four granddaughters, Jill Ridgley & John Foster, Mandy Sanders & Jason Littlejohn, Jamie & Chris Ochs and Christen & Scott Dunlap; six great-grandchildren, Levi Steinman, Peighton Arnone, Jadone Littlejohn, Kalin Littlejohn, Xander Ochs, Lakin Littlejohn and expecting a great-granddaughter in April; four extended great-grandchildren, Christopher & Andrew Ochs and Scotty & Logan Dunlap; one brother and sister-in-law, Jimmie & Verniece Perkins; one niece, Jackie Davis; three nephews, Larry Klim, Rick Perkins and Brad Perkins; and extended Main Street Diner friends.
A combined Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, March 11, 2011, at the Pulliam Funeral Home, Oblong with Phil Boyd and Don Houdasheldt officiating. Visitation is from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday. Burial will be at a later date in the Oblong Cemetery.
Military rites will be conducted Friday, March 11, 2011, by the Oblong American Legion Post #219.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Good Samaritan Hospice, Oblong Fireman’s Toys for Tots or Oblong Food Pantry, with envelopes at or may be mailed to the funeral home.
